Our Resource

Aurora Seafood is Europe’s source for wild Icelandic sea cucumbers.

Only nine boats are allowed to catch sea cucumbers around Iceland and Aurora Seafood  operates two of those in addition to buying from two other fishing vessels. Keeping in sustainability practices in regard to fishing, the government allows only a fixed volume of sea cucumbers to be caught every season, which begins in July and ends in May, with fishing slowing down over the winter.

Our sea cucumbers are processed and frozen or dried after harvesting at Krossfiskur, our processing plant in Stokkseyri, just south and east of Reykjavik. From Reykjavík or Þorlákshöfn the sea cucumbers are shipped to destinations all over the world.
